What is the snow/noise I see on plasma TVs at a local store?
I was at a Best Buy looking at TVs today. I was interested in a Panasonic TC-P50G10 due to some good reviews. A BBC nature documentary was playing on a Panasonic blue-ray, and I couldn't help but notice what looked like noise or snow. It kind of had a wave or subtle flashing look. It was quite apparent when looking at blue sky. It would kind of unnaturally fade in and out in sections (kind of similar to when an image pixilates on a LCD, but without the pixels). There was also a part with an elephant in which I could make out several little dots blipping in and out. I noticed something similar on a Samsung plasma nearby. I've never heard of this...is it something characteristic of plasmas?
It is characteristic of Plasmas and generally shows up after a year, year and a half....
A simple readjustment of the Plasma voltages makes them go away, but to do the adjustment normally requires a full day of ON TIME to verify it won't return...
